People sometimes ask me where my stories come from, and honestly, the answer is different every time. Sometimes it is a sentence that pops into my head while I am doing something completely unrelated, like washing dishes or driving. Other times it is a feeling I cannot shake until I put it into words.
What I love most about writing is that it gives me a place to explore ideas and emotions that do not always have room in everyday life. My characters carry pieces of things I have felt, seen, or wondered about, even when the story itself is nothing like my own life.
Every book I write starts messy. I do not begin with a perfect outline or a clear ending in mind. I begin with a spark, and I follow it until the story starts to take shape on its own. It is a little chaotic, but it is also the part I enjoy the most.
I hope that when you read my books, you feel like you are stepping into something real, even if it is fiction. That is always my goal, to write stories that stay with people a little after the last page.
